When young, you are often times are told, "Don't worry, you have time." Though this is true to a degree, you need to be active diving into activities that you develop skills over time. I didn't come straight of college knowing everything that I needed to. I wish I had more time to dive into the skill of programming and such. I was a jack of all trades and a master of none. Luckily, I was also the man to get the job done at the end of the day. There is something to be appreciated about versatility and punctuality, but now I want to be able to master some skills to be greatest engineer of all time. The best way to do that is not to wait for an opportunity but instead creating one.

Quite frankly, there is no shortcut; especially in the world of engineering. The way to overcome that fact is to cut off very defined chunks from your schedule to develop your skill and or activity. There are many "overnight" successes these days with the use of social media but they rarely last long. Sometimes, I find myself pushing things off til later, but later usually never comes because life never stops; even in your "free time".
Think of life as a never ending river that you can do nothing about to change the pace as you float. You can to decide to just float where you are or make the best of your journey because once it ends there are no revisions.
Your greatness is not going to fall into place if you don't make a conscience effort to build and grow towards it.
So don't wait up any longer; your greatness is not waiting on you!
